Lonsdale was built in 2000 as a cottage to enjoy the superb panoramic views the elevated position provides. All bedrooms, kitchen/dining room and lounge have splendid views. This is a cottage to enjoy Scotland at all times of the year whatever the weather. The scenes from the windows are ever changing as the tides ebb and flow, the changing light at dawn and dusk, the incoming weather and the distinctive flashing pattern of the Heston Island lighthouse all add to the captivating views from the large windows and patio doors.
On a nice day amble down to the lovely sheltered beach just 200 metres away, but, equally, spend a wet afternoon curled up with a good book in our comfortable living room with its spectacular views and cosy wood burning stove. The large kitchen/dining room has french windows leading onto the delightful sheltered terrace for a leisurely lunch.
There are three comfortable bedrooms all with views out to the sea. Downstairs there is a twin, with ensuite shower room, and a lovely bay window seat. Upstairs a king size bedroom with large windows and window seats and a twin bedroom with a dual aspect. A large family bathroom with bath and shower and a lovely view to the estury completes the upstairs.
Enjoy the lovely gardens at Lonsdale with its sheltered patio at the front surrounded by plants and overlooking Rough Island. There is a rear lawned area surrounded by azaleas, camellias, rhodedendrums and magnolias and a sunken Japenease garden complete with a sheltered gezebo seat. Look out to the estuary or spot a woodpecker flying in the trees behind.
The extensive sloping woodland garden runs down from the house and is filled with shrubs including azaleas, camellias, hydrangias and magnolias to name a few.
Visitors to the garden include roe deer and red squirrels. Relax and listen for the song thrush.
